This Grateful Dead Picture – Egypt 1978?

I had this as a large poster back in high school and I always loved. I found a large version of the image yesterday, stole it and am sharing it with the masses here today. I’ve stared at it for hours – Bobby with his shades with all eyes on him, Keith all wacked out with his shades and scarf on. Good stuff. The black and white nature really lends itself well to the subject matter.

I’m pretty sure, at some point, that I determined it was from their Egypt shows in 1978. Can anyone confirm that?

If you end up using this image for anything cool, let know, it’s long been a favorit.

Phil and Bobby to Play NYE Together!

New BFFs, Phil and Bobby, who seem to be doing lots of events together plan to play this New Years together in San Francisco. From GDSTOO:

Bob Weir & Ratdog and Phil Lesh & Friends with Jackie Greene to support will perform
on Tuesday, December 30 and Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Bill Graham Civic
Auditorium in San Francisco, CA. Tickets for December 30th are available at $50.00 per
ticket. Commemorative tickets for December 31st are available at $72.00 per ticket.

Mail order for these performances will be open from Thursday, October 16 through
Friday, October 31, 2008. Orders will be filled on a first come first served basis. You may
send in for both shows in one envelope but please send 2 money orders, one for each day.
There is a 4 ticket limit per person.

Dennis McNally downplays Bobby’s Injuries

E! Online is reporting that Bobby didn’t quite suffer the injuries that TMZ reported yesterday. According to Dennis McNally, the Dead’s long-time publicist, TMZ took his words out of context and that, yes, Bobby did have a cold but that last weekend’s benefit show was not postponed because of broken ribs.

I’m surprised that McNally even talked to TMZ in the first place but you can clearly see how what you say to an organization like that will get turned around to make a story much more than it really is.

Bobby breaks ribs on the bus!

Poor Bobby, already battling a cold he now has to deal with broken ribs as a result of the bus driver stopping suddenly while he was standing in the moving bus. TMZ and Contact Music are both reporting that Ratdog have postponed a ” post-tour fundraising show” but I can’t figure out what show that would be. There’s still a few days before the Obama benefit with his brothers in the Dead so I doubt that show would get postponed. Not in PA and not this late in the game. But you never know.

Here’s to hoping Bobby gets better soon!
