I flew from DC to this show cuz I missed the Verizon show. Having landed safely from Chicago, I have had time to reflect. First, I enjoyed myself. The band I saw was tight and energized. Bobby tried to take the lead but by virtue of the instrument alone, Warren has no choice but to run the show. Though sufficient in filling the Jerry void, this band was not the Grateful Dead. And no offense Phil, but thanks for not singing. Warren even compliments other solos throughout. Camenetti is awesome. It’s nice to hear old deep vinyl songs like Golden Road, but curious as to how Jerry would have improvised the jam. Case in point, Warren’s Dead cover band. The sound at Allstate was sweet and the toned down staging was intimate. This band is grate at playing Grateful Dead songs. But sadly, as Bobby soulfully bid farewell, He’s Gone and nuthin’s gonna bring him back. Twitter:@dead_lives

Oh I see, they sandwiched both Chicago nights in between the China:Rider;)

I saw one of Jerry’s last shows in Chicago back in 1995 and yes, that was the Grateful Dead, and a dozen or so shows before that starting in 1993. This is not the Grateful Dead, but it’s a very fine band and Warren Haynes is superb. Calling this band Warren’s cover band is unfair, mean-spirited, and a disservice to all deadheads and I reject it. Just enjoy the music – there was joy in the crowd and that’s what makes it continue. I miss Jerry as much as the next, but stop hanging it like a dead weight over the rest of the band.

7 hours from home and had a great time. i too agree that putting people up against warren is rediculous…there is no fight or war or battle between like so many that did with bob vs. phil and vice versa…the show was great…the tunes were great and there was alot of heart and soul….i had a blast! probably because im there for the music and i havent started any gang warfare within this band…its just retarded to limit shit like that…hes gone, but not forgotten…and the music never stopped!

i’ve seen the band play this place some times, and this is the best sound quality i’ve heard. its so nice to feel the energy again. these guys always new how to throw a party. or maybe the right people just seemed to keep showing up. the music began and we all followed. as for those that would like to keep going to shows just to let all of us know that no one incarnation could possibly hold a candle to what the grateful dead was, maybe you should stop going to them. i’m just fine with a nice easy drive, a spot, a grill, and a ticket. when i go in i feel energy that i never feel anywere else except a dead show. i miss jerry and things are not the same without his endevers. but this is fun

Well all i can say is that was my 5th show on the tour and i only expected to see one! I started seeing the band in 85 and while it is not the same I definitely enjoyed the shows this spring. I was there opening night, MSG, Philly and both Chicago shows and one has been better than the next as they get in sync. Live for it all. It felt good to walk around the lots, feel the good vibes and then listen to a lot of good music. Makes the memories come flooding back and that is a treat in itself! So many things i had forgotten triggered by the smells, sights and sounds gave me energy as it does the band.
