Great night and vibe with the family and all we bring! And the “core four” are magnificent. And Jeff is too.

But I missed Jimmy. Or Mark, or Steve…. Warren’s a great and busy player, but he really hasn’t gotten the songs down. It’s not that he can’t play them. I don’t think he knows them that well, not the way you and I do, and Jimmy, Mark and Steve have all learned. So I keep getting knocked out of the groove by these strange phrases and notes that don’t flow. Not bad notes, just not the ones from the song.

The venues and the family made March 30 beautiful. But April 14th at Verizon, I’m just not that pumped for… I really miss Jimmy, and I’m actually looking more forward to seeing “Doggie” and Mark Karan this summer.

Mostly, ain’t it grate to complain about how many different ways we can see a show. See you out there!

I was there and it was a great time. I decided to walk over to the show from my Apt. because i know you can hear bands very well from the backstage door on 53rd street. I expected a huge crowd and there was nothing, I walked around to 53rd and heard the start of UJB – sounded really nice. The security guard sauid go around front man – everyone is getting in for free – so I did.

Walked in and heard the sounds and smells of every dead show I’ve ever been too – got hugged right away by some younger kid – I was beaming. My first free show totally unexpected.

The show was a nice experience – this is not the Grateful Dead circa 1987 and it will never be – that being said they can still put on a good show when they remember. Phil seemed solid as a rock so did Billy and Mickey – Bob is bob and I love him for it – and Wareren is trying to fill unfillable shoes.

Was it a great experience – yes, even down to the hippy crack sellers post show.

Would I pay $100 to see a full show at the Roseland – yes, will i pay the same 100 to see them at MSG – yes, btu ill be pissed off about it.

All in all good times, great people, not enough singing.

I wasn’t there but I’ve heard the shows and — Not bad, had its moments. There’s something missing, though. Hmmm…. Jerry?!?!?! Yes but no. These guys have proven that since Jerry, they can play HOT shows. But I felt like here in Spring ’09, they’ve lost a step, like there wasn’t the whole spark. One thought I had was they’re just a little rusty and a week into the tour the shows will be AMAZING.

Also, I liked the middle show (at the Blender Theatre) better than this one so maybe they were just tired by this point and didn’t play as well as they could have. Just another thought.

warren generally sucked. He sounds like he should be playing in a tikki bar. he held back and should just play.

bobby sucked- generally.

UJBand was absoloutly rocking! i was very suprised at how good it was…

AWESOME SHOW!!!!! The vibes at the Roseland show were AMAZING!!! |The whole premise of the boys playing for free in NYC of all places gives me renewed faith that “our love will not fade away”. Althea started out a little slow, Cassidy had some nice moments. UJB was beautiful, EYES was stellar, St. Stephen ROCKED!!! Dark Star had the feel of being only a crowd pleaser, but was lovely to hear. NFA was nothing special, still hadn’t heard Weir sing it live in 15 years, so it was cool. Anyone who posts how this or that song sucked or could have been better doesn’t realize it is 2009, not 1989. OF COURSE the boys won’t be as sharp in their 60′s as twenty years ago. OF COURSE Warren is not Jerry. SO WHAT. Enjoy the vibes, relive the glory days and ROCK ON brothers and sisters.

Fantastic show. Loved every minute. The vibe was great and I especially loved the ‘absence’ of the lot kids. ~Nice to be at a show where everyone is there for the music!

….out of the taxi on West 52nd Street expecting mobs of people…NOPE..no one…get my ticket and into the show…straigh up the balcony…DEAD center..no camera hassles..now the wait…I guess it was easier to get Bobby, Phil and Warren and their gear to the Gramercy then it was to get all of the gear to Roseland….show is calle for 11pm…11:11pm the boys come on…Althea…totall unexpected and nice…Cassidy..thank you Bobby…Uncle John’s Band…now they’re settling into a groove…extending the jamming…having fun…Eyes..smokin’ HOT….St. Stephen…terrible, so over played (early April fools)…KILLER!!!!!..Dark Star..still miss Jerry but love the jams…Sugar Mag-fucking-nolia…doesn’t get better than this. Encore…NFA…you know our love will never…
